The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Friday declared 21 universities as ‘Fake’ and not empowered to confer any degree, the majority of which are in Delhi followed by Uttar Pradesh.
The Commission declared 21 universities as ‘Fake’ on Friday, saying that these universities aren’t empowered to confer any degree. Out of the 21 universities, the outside is in Delhi (8) followed by Uttar Pradesh (4).
UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain said,” At least 21 tone- nominated, unrecognised institutions which are performing in violation of the UGC Act, have been declared as fake universities and these aren’t empowered to confer any degree.” The sanctioned notice from UGC read,” scholars and Public at large are hereby informed that presently following 21 tone- nominated, unrecognised institutions which are performing in violation of the UGC Act, have been declared as fake universities and these aren’t empowered to confer any degree.”

- Commercial University Limited, Daryaganj
- United Nations University
- ADR-Centric Judicial University
- Indian Institution of Science and Engineering
- Vishwakarma Open University for Self-Employment
- Adhyatmik Vishwavidyalaya
Uttar Pradesh has four such Universities
- Gandhi Hindi Vidyapith

- Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University (open university)
- Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad
