New Delhi: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has tested positive for Covid-19. Afridi, 40, revealed on Twitter on Saturday that he had been experiencing severe body ache for a few days, and that the tests had come out positive.
“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah #COVID19 #pandemic #hopenotout #staysafe #stayhome,” Afridi tweeted.
Afridi has been involved in charitable causes through his foundation Shahid Afridi Foundation and has helped a lot of needy people during the COVID-19 pandemic. While he has visited lots of places, in Pakistan, to help the needy and continue his social work, Afridi recently hit the headlines due to his controversial remarks on Kashmir and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His social works had even received the backing of Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh but their relations turned sour after Afridi’s remarks on PM Modi and Kashmir.
Pakistan, as of now, has 132,405 cases of the Coronavirus with 600 cases per million population. The country has recorded 2,551 deaths thus far. It has close to 80,000 active cases.
