More than half of the cost of traveling by train is given by the Ministry of Railways in the form of subsidy. Giving information about this, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had said that the railways gives a concession of more than 55 percent on the fare of a passenger. He informed that this year only 62 thousand crore rupees have been spent in the rent itself.
Rs 45 out of 100 is charged from the passenger
The Railway Minister said that up to 55 percent subsidy is given to all the passengers by the Indian Railways. This simply means that if Rs 100 is spent on any route from the railway side, then only Rs 45 is charged from the passenger. Giving information, he said that the Railways has given a total subsidy of 62 thousand crores to different categories of passengers last year.
The Railway Minister also told that Indian Railways is planning to run EMU trains soon. Let us tell you that EMU does not have an engine, it works like a metro. Power comes in the second and third coaches of these trains and the entire train operates from it.
