Earlier WhatsApp chats were backed up only on WhatsApp’s server, which was later linked with Google Drive and now it is reported that WhatsApp is also preparing to provide the facility of local drive for chat backup.
Controversy has been going on for a long time regarding the backup and storage of WhatsApp chats. Some are happy with cloud backup and some are cool without backup, but WhatsApp has been working on chat backup for a long time. Earlier WhatsApp chats were backed up only on WhatsApp’s server, which was later linked with Google Drive and now it is reported that WhatsApp is also preparing to provide the facility of local drive for chat backup.
According to the report, WhatsApp users will be able to back up their chats from Google Drive and save them in a pen drive or on their laptop. WABetaInfo has given information about this upcoming feature of WhatsApp. This local backup will contain photos, videos, other files as well as text messages.
This new feature of WhatsApp can currently be seen on Android’s beta version 2.22.20.10. This beta version has also been made available on the Google Play Store. WABetaInfo has also shared a screenshot of the new feature. The thing to note here is that this feature will work only with high-speed internet. Currently there is no facility for local backup of chats.
Let us know that WhatsApp is working on another new update. WhatsApp is soon preparing to introduce camera shortcuts in the main app’s interface. After the new update of WhatsApp, the shortcut of the camera in the Android phone will be found with the search bar at the top. It is being tested on the beta version of Android, so it is difficult to say when its final update will be released.
