A nasal vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech against Covid-19 has been approved by the medicines regulator for use in emergency situations. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said this in a tweet. The health minister said, “India has fully utilized its scientific, research and development human resources under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
In February, Mumbai-based Glenmac, in partnership with SaNotize Company, launched a nasal spray in India to treat adult Covid patients. Manufacturing and marketing approval has been received from the Drug Controller General of India. An official statement said: “Phase III trials in India have been quite successful, showing viral load reductions of 94 percent in 24 hours and up to 99 percent in 48 hours.”
It is significant that new cases of coronavirus infection have been decreasing in the country recently. With the arrival of 4,417 new cases of coronavirus infection in India in the last 24 hours, the number of infected cases has increased to 4,44,66,862. The new cases are at least three months old. The death toll rose to 5,28,030 due to the loss of 23 more patients due to the infection, as per updated Union Health Ministry data till 8:00 am on Tuesday. These new deaths include the case that Kerala reconciled. The number of treated cases in the country dropped to 52,336.
