Four people, including two students, were shot dead by three men on Saturday at the Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) campus over a money dispute, police said.
The incident took place outside the Directorate of Distance Education in the university at 6.10 pm when Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya left the campus after inaugurating the newly constructed Faculty Development Centre amid high security.
The injured have been identified as Sushil Hooda, former representative of NSUI in MDU, Kuldeep Hooda, constable in Haryana Police, resident of Asan village in Rohtak, Vidit of Dubaldhan village in Jhajjar and Harsh of Kheri Asra village in Rohtak. Sushil Hooda is considered close to the Hooda family.
He has been admitted to a private hospital. Doctors at the hospital told HT that three people are out of danger, while one is in critical condition and is improving.
Rohtak resident Vijay said in his complaint that he had a money dispute with Deepak Beniwal, a resident of Rohtak village and the latter owed him Rs 6.40 lakh.
